a baby sweater

Finally finished this sweater after starting it while Lucy was in the NICU, and she fits it now! I also made a preemie sweater and matching hat for her while she was there, but no photos of them... Also finished the purple socks I started this summer, but....no photos. Life with a baby - you either get to knit or take photos, but never both.

fun with dots

(That's my sister's floating head and hands, and my dad's floating leg.... )

I went back home in March for a few weeks. The first night I was home, my mom and I were browsing some quilt magazines because she had mentioned possibly making a baby quilt. A polka dot design caught my eye, so the next day we picked out fabrics and started cutting everything out. It's hard to see, but I picked out small prints that would blend as neutrals, but had fun stuff going on when you looked up close, like bugs, cowboys, musical instruments, and such. Between that and the bright colors, I really like how it turned out.

wool socks in July

Hopefully the recipient of these will remember to pull them out of her sock drawer in December.

some knitting photos

Most of this was done while I was mostly immobile after surgery..

A baby blanket in shades of blue, in front of the polka-dot quilt my mom and I made in March.

The "Raha Scarf" from Knitted Lace of Estonia. Apparently, the raha (the book said it meant money) pattern is the oldest..or one of the oldest...lace patterns from that region of Europe. I love lace. This one went to my sister for her birthday.

Made this tomato hat for my long-time friend from 3rd grade who just had a baby.

And some non-knitting: embroidered sachets filled with dried lavender for friends and family. My mom brought the embroidery patterns when she came to visit and keep house . Thanks mom :)

so crafty...

I make people :) I'm due Labor Day, Sept. 5th. At the moment I'm recovering from a dermoid cyst removal surgery on Monday and have a bit of a frankenbelly, but I'm up and walking and this baby is kicking like there's no tomorrow.

On the crafting front, this is woefully empty of photos. I've done a few knitting projects, made some big modular origami pieces, and sewed a few things. And made a baby quilt with my mom back in March. Maybe I'll get a photo of the quilt when she's done putting the binding on it.
